Practices At SOIFUA Village Polynesia | Venue

SOIFUA Village Polynesia holds practices every week according to a standing schedule which is designed to cover all major forms of Polynesian dance, rhythmic movement, singing, and chanting. Practices take place in a variety of standing and sitting positions. In the interests of safety SOIFUA's Artistic Director or his deputy has absolute authority over what is permitted to take place during SOIFUA practices.

For hygiene and personal safety SOIFUA Village Polynesia requires all practice participants to have clean feet and hands, and be free of infectious conditions including severe acne, ringworm, athlete's foot, and Chicken Pox. Exposed body parts must be clean. Practice participants must wear clean practice garments. For hygiene and safety during practices SOIFUA Village Polynesia prohibits:

1. the wearing of jewellery and/or body piercings
2. eating and drinking
3. chewing of gum or confectionery

SOIFUA Village Polynesia reserves the right to exclude anybody at any time from any of SOIFUA's practices. Except on Public Holidays, and recess during Christmas and New Year periods, SOIFUA Village Polynesia practices take place twice a week:

Members of the public are welcome to attend and participate in all practices at SOIFUA Village Polynesia.  At the moment admission is free to join SOIFUA's practices and receive training alongside SOIFUA's performers. Practices take place in bare feet so please make sure your feet are clean. Women and girls should bring a pareu, or ie, or lavalava to wear on the lower part of the body and wear a T-shirt on the upper part of the body. Men and boys should wear running shorts and a T-shirt.

SOIFUA accepts no liability for participants who are injured or suffer illness during/after practice. Each participant practises at their own risk. Practices are strenuous exercise. So if you come to a SOIFUA practice, to practice, please bring a clean towel and your own water bottle. Water bottles must be clearly marked and easily identifiable from other water bottles.
